About Us

We are an independent, funeral directors owned by Andrew Milne, established in 2000, we care for families across Northern Ireland with dignity and respect. As a team of qualified professionals, we provide guidance and care for families during the most challenging time in their lives. We are passionate about the funeral industry and leaders in our field.

History

In 1989 Ian Milne attained his Diploma in Funeral Directing, he was President of the National Association of Funeral Directors Area Federation and Chairman of The British Institute of Funeral Directors N.I.

In 2000 Ian started the family business in Portadown, then as the business grew, he launched his second and third funeral homes in Lurgan and Banbridge.

Ian achieved a Masters Degree in “Work based Learning and Mediation” for work in conflict resolution from Queen’s University Belfast. His was one of a collection of 35 portraits painted by local artist Susan Hughes called “The Quiet Peacemakers”, in recognition of his conflict resolution work during the troubles.

Ian had an active role in the business up until his untimely passing in September 2025, he enjoyed meeting families and organising funeral services across Northern Ireland.

He was a founding member of the National Association of Funeral Directors’ Committee on Funerals & Bereavement in the NI Assembly, where he advised elected representatives in Stormont.

Ian left a legacy of professionalism and enthusiasm in progressing the service provided to families. Andrew, Stuart and their colleagues will strive to uphold Ian’s standards and continue his work in the community.

Ian Milne

Ian founded the funeral business, originally called Ian Milne & Sons in 2000, he worked passionately throughout his life until his untimely passing in September 2025.

Stuart Milne

Stuart joined his dad in 2005, he studied with the National Association of Funeral Directors gaining his Diploma in Funeral Directing in 2006. After some time working in other areas gaining valuable experience, he rejoined the business in a fulltime position now producing headstones overseeing and the graveworks business.

Andrew Milne

Ian’s youngest son Andrew started working full time in the business in 2011, he studied with the Independent Funeral Directors College gaining his Cert F.P. and graduated with his Diploma in Funeral Directing (Dip FD in June 2024). Andrew acquired the business in 2013, he focuses on writing Pre-Paid Funeral Plans and conducting funerals.

Our Locations

We are here to help you coordinate a funeral, managing multiple moving parts like venues, celebrants and florists.

With three branches in Portadown, Lurgan, and Banbridge, we provide complete burial and cremation arrangements across Northern Ireland, helping you navigate every step of your loss.

Our modern, purpose built funeral homes are designed to accommodate Funeral Services and wakes, with private rooms for families to discuss funeral arrangements and spend time together. Our offices have onsite car parking or off street carparks located near buy.

Allowing us to serve families in Armagh, Bessbrook, Dromore, Tandragee, Lisburn, Loughgall, Loughbrickland, Newry, Markethill, Moira and Richhill.
